TMCnet on the webIn most cases, integration comes down to three key Voicemail integration features
Voicemail is sized according to the number of ports, think of ports as simultaneous connections established between the phone system and the voice mail system. Generally the number of ports in a voicemail is a fraction of the total number of extensions your phone system supports.
Be sure the voicemail systems you are looking at can fully integrate with
your phone system. The term "integration" is used to refer to
the level of phone system and voice mail system interoperbility. In most
cases, integration comes down to three key Voicemail integration features:
Key Voicemail Integration Features:
• First, a light on the phone indicates when messages are waiting in the
mailbox. This notifies users when to check the system.
• Second is the ability for the system to automatically forward calls to
the correct mailbox when a call is not answered. This alleviates the need
for the caller to remember the correct mailbox number to leave a message.
• Third is known as "return to operator." This allows a caller
to exit the voice mail system and reach a live attendant at any time. If
you are planning to support remote workers the return to operator and auto
call forwarding to the correct mailbox are key to presenting a seemless
interface to clients who may be calling your remote work force.
